Rubber Sidewalk to Protect Precious Beer Kegs

Posted by Conditional Love inThe Six-pack on Monday, August 18, 2008

Just like in Donkey Kong Country, when kegs seem to roll down the lane effortlessly without veering off track or getting cracked, soon the city of Ames, Iowa will have their very own causeway of kegeration.

The city is installing a rubber sidewalk near the fire station, where hundreds of kegs are dumped off every semester.

Over time, the pressure and denting caused by rogue kegs and hand trucks have dealt crippling blows to the cracked concrete. No longer, as city officials took recycled shredded tires and created a plush avenue for kegs to roam free.

It’s just the latest in a series of sweet green initiatives; this one designed to protect our country’s most important asset.

Our beer.
